Join us on November 11th for the FIRST EVER virtual cooking class led by two of Mississippi's most awarded Chefs, Derek Emerson and Connor Wolf.
The BankPlus Red Beans & Rice Festival benefitting Stewpot has been a Metro area staple for many years. The health and safety of our friends who support us is our priority. Due to the rise of COVID cases in our state and around the world, we have decided to create a new and fun event that you can enjoy right from your kitchen at home!
Everyone who purchases a ticket will receive a meal kit filled with all the ingredients you need to create Chef Emerson & Wolf's famous Red Beans & Rice recipe. We encourage you to participate with your friends and family, as each recipe feeds up to 10 people. Tune in to our livestream from The Farmer's Table Cooking School in Livingston on November 11th at 6:00 pm to join our chefs and cook with them live from your home. Meal kits will be available for pick up on 11/9 at CAET in Ridgeland between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., and on 11/10 at Walker’s Drive-In in Jackson between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Two pick-up locations and times are offered to try and accommodate the schedules of all those who purchase tickets. A Zoom link will be sent out in advance of the event to join and a recording will be sent shortly after the class ends if you are unable to attend live.
And, of course, we understand that some of you may be on a diet after gaining the COVID-19. However, you can still support Stewpot by sending us a donation!
All proceeds from this event will be used to help support the ministries of Stewpot, your favorite Mississippi Homegrown Charity. The money raised helps to keep the doors open, lights on, and continue to provide for the basic needs of men, women, and children.
Stewpot Community Services provides compassionate assistance, at no charge, to people in need of physical and spiritual nourishment. Through our ministries, we serve people who are hungry, poor, and homeless, offering food, shelter, clothing, mentoring, care and concern. At Stewpot, we believe that we all are fed through our fellowship with one another and that we are all stronger when we are offering our gifts on behalf of others.
- 100% of the proceeds from the Red Beans & Rice Festival benefits Stewpot Community Services.
- Between 1,000 and 1,500 people attend the event every year.
- Over 300 gallons of red beans are consumed each year!
- Be on the lookout for an announcement regarding our 2022 in-person Red Beans & Rice Festival. Anyone can be a contestant!
